Tiny House Interior: Kitchen

This lovely kitchen was put together much like the other projects in my house.  Built around all the junk that has no where to go and filled right up before I painted, or even finished building it.  I also used 2x4s and 2x3s like I have been doing, and scrap wood to make shelf surfaces.   Very cheap and functional.

First step was to put up the shelves.

Sorry about the pictures. My camera lens broke and I was without a decent one for a couple weeks.

To the right of the shelves, I put the sink in.  This is an awesome, cast iron shelf that I got from my grandmother’s basement.  It is very heavy and has to be perfectly flat.  My floor is not “perfectly” flat, so it looks crooked, but the sink is straight.  The sink empties into a 5 gallon bucket, which I dump into the gardens.

The sink and the shelving were built up together after I got the sink flat.  Then I added in some more shelves above the sink to put the dish drainer.  The dish drainer drains directly into the sink.  Very useful.

We screwed a stick into the shelving to make a paper towel holder.

My favorite addition in this kitchen is the “running water.”  We used a 3 gallon water jug and cut a hole in the top to fill it.  Running water!

And then we add some paint and a curtain to hide the dirty water.  Now all we need is a table!

Small Greenhouse Build

While drinking my coffee one morning, I realized that my tiny house was overrun by seedlings! To top it off, they weren’t getting enough sun. I had no choice, really, but I didn’t have the funding for a greenhouse. I did some scrounging and found and old roll of plastic …
