Frogs can be great friends for you have in your garden and great learning tools for your kids.  Frogs eat lots of bugs like mosquitos and garden pests.  The more frogs, the less pests.  Watching frog eggs turn into tadpoles and then frogs in your own backyard is awesome to watch.

We have a small spring that runs through in front of our house that pools in a few places on its way to the big stream.  One particular place is close enough to the house that we can visit it regularly, and we have often watched frog eggs turn to tadpoles and then frogs.  We decided this year, that we could expand this little pool and add some frog habitat features.

The frogs need shelter from predators and from the heat of the sun drying out the pool.  We needed a way to get across the pool without distrbing the eggs.  We made various “bridges” out of sticks and planks we found laying around.

The bridges not only allows us to get across safely and dry, it also adds shelter for the frogs.

Now we wait and watch.  We will share what we find as we go!
